The CONSORTIUM
PERIKLES is carried out by a consortium that consists of one
industry and two scientific partners, where each partner focuses on a
specific aspect of the to-be system. The members of the consortium are:
- GECKO mbH ( www.gecko.de, consortium lead)
GECKO is a Rostock (Germany)-based small to medium enterprise (SME)
that develops industry-specific software solutions for its customers.
The company is also actively engaged in research and development that
aims at the introduction of innovative technologies to open new
business areas.
The contribution to PERIKLES comprises four core technologies and
responsibilities:
- BPM solution for clinical processes
- Event-to-process transformation
middleware
- Graphical clinical user interfaces
- Process integration
- University of Rostock (
dbis.informatik.uni-rostock.de, research partner)
The database and information systems (DBIS) group (head Prof. Andreas
Heuer) at the Institute of Computer Science is one of two scientific
partners of the consortium. Its main contribution to the project is
related to:
- Workflow flexibility
- Data integration with clinical
information systems
- IT Science Center, Rügen (www.it-science-center.de
, research partner)
IT Science Center, which is an associated institute of local
universities, is the other scientific partner of the consortium
(project lead Prof. Peter Forbrig). Its project responsibilities are
related to:
- Process specification
- Process simulation
Clinicians - especially surgeons, anesthetists, OR coordinators, and
nurses - are the domain experts of the perioperative processes which
PERIKLES aims to support. Therefore, their strong involvement and
feedback is of great importance to the project and very much welcomed.
To this end, research is carried out in conjunction with several
operating facilities in Germany.
